To be frank, gaining muscle is difficult. Everyone says it takes hard work and dedication. They are right. In order to see improvements in your body, you need to be diligent in working out every day. You have to do the proper exercises and must be consistent with it. An equally hard challenge is eating properly. It's all about low carbs and low sugar: all the things we crave.
On my constant endeavor to gain more muscle I started to notice that there is something more challenging hindering my progress. When I get in the "mood" I can work out for almost three hours a day. Sometimes, I can go on a week with this good momentum. But, then something changes. I’ll just stop. I’ll pick up a bag of chips or some Oreos and sit in bed, with the exception of 10 pull ups here or there. Then something will put me in that "mood" again and the cycle continues.
The solution is to been in that "mood" everyday. But, what is that "mood"?
I'm slowly discovering that that "mood" is a mindset. To be motivated to workout and eat healthy, you need to be in that "mood," that mindset. In order to do that you need purpose. To figure this out, I tried to keep track of what causes these bursts of motivation. After awhile, I noticed that these "moods" occur when I'm feeling down or disappointed in myself. I get the urge to be better tomorrow than I was today. This causes the need to workout, gain muscle and eat healthier.
Without purpose and a constant need to improve your health, your progress will be stagnant. Unable to see improvements will discourage you even further. Its important to remember why you're working out and why you're eating healthy.
