Let's face it, the winter months are a dark time. The snow's piling up, the sunshine's fading away, and best of all, Valentine's Day is arriving to remind you that you'll probably be single for the rest of your life. No need to panic. Just remember that Netflix exists! (And if you don't have Netflix, then you should just start panicking now.) Whether you're looking for a long-term, multi-season commitment or a less serious mini-series sort of show, Netflix has got your back. Here are four funny Netflix shows that are sure to make you laugh and brighten the winter months.
1) 30 Rock
One word: Tina Fey. Actually, that's two words, but its one name -- a name of a person you probably already know and love. (And if you don't, go to the doctors. You're clearly sick.) Tina Fey is a comedic genius and this show reflects that. Two parts wit to one part shenanigans, "30 Rock" follows Liz Lemon, the head writer of a weekly comedy show (sound familiar?), as she tries to survive the wackiness that is show business.
2) Parks and Recreation
"Parks and Recreation" can only be described as something between a bag full of sunshine and a one-night stand with the Three Stooges. (Perhaps, not a great description.) Anyways, "Parks and Recreation" follows a ragtag group of employees from the Pawnee Park's Department and their ambitions to climb the corporate ladder. At any rate, Amy Poehler's portrayal of Leslie Knope as a bubbly, awkward, and ambitious leader will put a smile on anybody's face.
3) Louie
If you're one of those people who laughs at other's misery, this show is for you. Part stand-up performance, part vignette, "Louie" follows Louis C.K. is what can only be described as a dramatization of his own life. Louis C.K.'s wry sense of humor about the existential realities of human existence is not only really thoughtful, but very funny.
4) The Office
For me, "The Office" is the crowning jewel of hilarity to be found on Netflix. It follows a group of people working for a paper distribution company in an increasingly paperless era. Each episode of "The Office" is like a gift, especially episodes where Steve Carrell showcases his comedic chops as the ever hilarious, Michael Scott.
These are just a few great shows on Netflix that I'm sure you'll enjoy during these frigid months!
