Let's be real, nothing warms your pumpkin spice heart during the fall season than scrolling through your Instagram feed and feeling like everything is on the Valencia filter due to the changing colors of fall (or maybe it is the Valencia filter). Either way, if you want to be part of the fall Instagram game, these activities are a great way to set the scene or just have a fun fall time.
Playing In The Leaves: This is a fun activity for the outdoorsy crowd. Some might even enjoy the manual labor of raking leaves before playing with them.
Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Patches: Traveling to these fall locations are the perfect way to embrace the flavors and the feelings of fall. From apple and pumpkin flavored everything, to hay rides, to sipping cider while literally picking the fruits of your labor, orchards and pumpkin patches are the place to be this season. And let’s be honest, who can resist some trendy seasonal pics?
Game Days: What says Saturdays in the fall more than the Boys of Fall? Game days are a highlight in fall for people of all ages, but for college students, they are a necessity. From tailgates to courtyard shenanigans, to (possibly) making it to the game, game days are a beyond good way to spend your Saturdays. Let’s also not forget to mention that Gopher Game Day is repping this best season even more than other schools. I mean, the maroon and gold colors go perfectly with the dope colored leaves of fall.
Baking: Fall food is too great, so why not try your hand at making your own? Apple crumbles, pumpkin pies or even just baking pumpkin seeds for a study snack is a great way to get into the fall mood and make your apartment smell super festive.
Carving Pumpkins: Fall means Halloween, and Halloween means carving pumpkins. Carving pumpkins into fun faces, or attempting to do intricate designs only to have a huge piece break and leave you to improvise, is always fun if you are with friend to support and/or laugh at you. If artsy activities or crafting fails are your calling, then carving pumpkins is the perfect fall activity for you.
Bonfires: Before the chill of an early winter is upon us, get your friends together and have one last huddle around the fire, maybe make a final s'more of the season, and reflect on the past season of summer without the hassle of mosquitos harshing your fire’s vibe.
Take A Colorful Cruise: Travel down the Mississippi or across Lake Minnetonka to see the fall colors change and get the last of Minnesota “warmth” on the water. The beautiful foliage, as well as the containment of being on a bougie boat, is all you need to have a relaxed, fall escape. Who knows? You may even see yours truly working the boats before the season ends.
Sweater Weather Shopping: Fall for all means brisk temperatures that require a shift from those summer shorts and tees. Sweater weather is prime because, with the right comfy sweater, you can literally feel like you are wearing a blanket around you at all times. So, #treatyourself and find a sweater that can make you feel like you are wrapped in a warm cocoon while you’re really at your 8 a.m. lecture.
Study Outside: For those who want to feel like they are still embracing fall while not falling behind on schoolwork, studying outside is the perfect compromise. Just grab your pumpkin spice latte, pull up a chair and get to work, all while enjoying the crisp and colorful changes of fall.
Watch Halloween Movies: If it’s a bit too nippy out to have fun outdoors, bring the fall party inside and have a movie marathon of your favorite Halloween films. Be it scary movies or the "Halloweentown" series, cuddling up with some caramel popcorn and warm cider is an ideal fall day for anyone.
