Fuller House has been something that Full House fans have been patiently waiting for about a year now. Honestly, most of us have been waiting since it went off the air in 1995…
When a movie or show is talked about so frequently and everyone has such high expectations, a lot of the time that can then leave fans feeling let down. Fuller House had big shoes to fill and definitely wouldn’t get by with just throwing in old phrases like, “you got it dude” and “how rude”. Fuller House had to pull in all the family aspects that were so loved by Full House fans, while having drama and humor that didn’t make parents skeptical of letting their kids watch. In my opinion, the first two episodes were very corny and just relived old fan favorite moments of Full House, but the rest of the season was worth binge watching and certainly stood on its own.
The Set
Fuller House made sure things were just like they were when Danny lived in the house with his girls. We still had the Tanner family couch, and it is still used as a vital point for family discussions and heart-to-heart talks. We have to give producers some props on finally making the space between the kitchen and the living room look like it has a purpose unlike in the original. Did anyone notice how Nikki and Alex’s old bedroom was on the opposite side of the attic? Otherwise, the Tanner family house looked the same and made fans feel right at home!
The Girls
If you could have imagined in the early 1990’s how DJ, Kimmy, and Stephanie would end up; it happened. All three girls portray their old characters to a tee. Stephanie was always a wild child and enjoyed music, and I love how they made her a free-spirit who likes to DJ. Kimmy was always colorful and quirky, and her company Gibbler’s Party Planning is a perfect rendition of what she would’ve done. DJ having a very stable job suited her character well, and her very cautious nature fits her . I would’ve expected Stephanie to be the one with kids and no husband, as she’s never had a stable relationship, and has also been more on the wild side. DJ should’ve married Steve, but I guess we can still hope for this one. Team Steve!
The New Kids
The new kids are all very Tanner. They all possess qualities from the old gang, and they bring it out in a way that’s not too over-done. They each have interesting storylines, and as for the actual actors, well they fit the part just right.
Fuller House was a lot better than I expected, and I’m so glad it’s been picked up for a season two. Will Kimmy finally re-marry Fernando; will DJ chose Matt or Steve? Thanks to Netflix for bringing such a great show back to life, and for doing Full House fans justice.
