"Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother." — Oprah Winfrey
This is not your typical "I love you" letter. This is a letter to all the women who has nurtured and cared for children that are not their own. Women who are teachers, counselors, friends, family members, caregivers and foster parents that display a motherly figure. This letter is for the woman who gives selflessly to the betterment of one's upbringing. This is for the woman who puts herself on the back burner to see everyone around her thrive. This is for the woman who aids others in finding themselves while you slowly lose herself. This is for the woman who loves unconditionally, gives graciously and nurtures endlessly.
Dear Mom,
You are loved, you are appreciated, you are a dynamic woman.
A mother is defined as, "a woman in relation to a child; a woman who brings up (a child) with care and affection". A relationship between a child and a mother is an experience few have the privilege of earning. Being a mother goes beyond giving birth and she is more than a cook, a housekeeper and a driver, it's a relationship that involves sacrifice, trust, patience and good will.
Thank for being the epitome of what a woman is and should be.Thank you for empowering others through your life lessons and words of wisdom.Thank you for being my high school math teacher, my culinary instructor, my aunt, my neighborhood, my dance instructor, my sister and my spiritual mother.
You may not have given birth to me but, thank you for being a mother figure, a role model, and a support system. You've made a lasting impact on various lives and has landed a place in many hearts that will not be erased.
You may think that your work goes unnoticed, but you mean so much to so many people. Everyone may not appreciate you or what you do for others daily but, just know that someone does.
Thank you for being apart of something greater than yourself.
You are a perfect expression of God's love. Thank you for being a motherly figure and a representation of a Proverbs 31 woman, a woman like Esther, Martha, Mary and Ruth.
I love you, Queen!
From,
The Daughter You Never Had
