I have some bad news for everyone: School is starting soon. This means you're going to have to wake up at a decent hour again, do homework and stop binge watching TV for hours every day. But before you allow yourself to wallow in despair, I have a few tips to help you get back into that school groove without going cold turkey.
Try and pull yourself out of summer mode now. Since you're going to have to read for school, it would be a good idea to get into a good book right now. Pick a fun story that you'd actually enjoy as a way to transition from hours of mind-numbing Netflix to your textbooks. If you like the novel, it will be easier to stick with!
You also need to start going to bed at normal human hours. No more staying up until 4 a.m. and sleeping until 2 p.m. If you fix your sleep schedule now, waking up for that 9 a.m. class will be much less stressful.
Also try to keep in mind if you are going to do back-to-school shopping you should try to go now. The hordes will be out soon and all of the regular sizes and cute clothes will be gone way before you step into the mall. Plus, it's never fun to have to fight for your clothing.
Once you begin this transition process, you also have to prepare for school to actually start. Go into Office Depot or Office Max and start getting your school supplies. Make sure you have an adequate number of pencils and pens so you don't have to dig around your backpack in a frantic struggle to find one before the professor starts talking!
If you know what your textbooks are going to be, you should start trying to find them online now. You'll find much cheaper prices if you dig for them, plus there are often before-school sales.
Write out your schedule and place it in an easily viewable area so you don't get lost trying to find your classes the first day. Also, if you're like me, you'll have a new set of goals to accomplish this semester. Write out these goals and the steps you need to achieve them in order to get you excited for the school year to start! Nothing gets you more pumped than the idea of being the best you that you can be, so set your goals high but accessible.
Last but not least, start packing! You don't want to be the stressed out kid trying to shove everything in a box two hours before you leave for school. Try to pack little things at a time at least two weeks in advance to avoid giving both you and your mother a meltdown. Get all your furniture, clothes and supplies ready because you're headed off to the dorms for your best year yet, baby!
