Many people we come in contact with are usually considered to be acquaintances, and others fall into the friend and best friend category. We often find that some of our friends seem to only be in our lives for a certain time period.
Personally, most of my elementary and middle school friends are definitely not my current friends. That's life. People grow, people move, and some friends just sometimes grow apart. In reality, there are actually many different kinds of friends that someone can have: friends from school, friends from work, friends from church... Usually, the people you are closest to have extremely similar morals, beliefs, and sometimes the same interests as you.
Out of all your friends, there are usually a select few or maybe even one that will become a "best friend."
A best friend isn't necessarily the person you have known the most, it's actually the person/people that you are 100 percent comfortable with at all times. Having a best friend is knowing that this friend is never going to leave your side. It means that you know you have someone you can talk to about anything.
It's having hundreds of inside jokes that only you two would understand. It's being able to understand what the other person is thinking with just one look. It's about being as happy for them when they get good news as you would be for yourself. It's about forcing them into going on shopping trips with you and helping you pick out a new dress. It's about praying for each other without asking. It's about sharing a pizza while watching your favorite t.v. show, and not judging them for how much food they can eat (I know we have all been there). Or maybe your best friend is pizza (why not?).
Lastly, it's about helping each other grow into becoming the best version of yourself.
