What 'Friends' Can Teach Us About Life

I just recently finished watching "Friends" on Netflix, and now I'm not sure what to do with myself. The show was incredible from start to finish, and I can definitely say that it is now one of my favorites. I'd never seen the whole show all the way through (only episodes here and there), and while it did take a while, I've never been more satisfied with a TV series before.

Why? Because "Friends" portrays a situation that is so relatable yet so desirable. Sure, the characters seem to have a lot more crazy adventures going on than I do, but throughout the whole show, I was really aware of how much I wanted a tight-knit group of friends like they have. I want to surround myself with people who support me and listen to my problems, and I want to do the same for them. I want to know that our little group of friends is number one in our lives, despite having social lives outside of it. The show portrayed a lot about friendship, life, and relationships- things that are going to stick with me as I get older.

So what are some of the things I learned from Friends? (Note: these are only some of many).

1. Friendship can be hard sometimes. But when you're in a healthy, meaningful friendship with someone, both of you will work hard to maintain that friendship. Even through ups and downs and distance, friendships that are important to you will always be worth it.

2. Sometimes, you might find yourself in a job you don't love. Sometimes that's ok and sometimes it's not. But in most cases, you have the power to change your situation and do what you want. It's the doing that's the hard part.

3. You will have many relationships in life. Friends and lovers will come and go, but the ones that stay are the ones that are the most important.

4. Everyone has their own personal issues; you're not alone. It may be something you have to work with for the rest of your life, but if you're lucky, you'll have friends that understand and allow you to do you while helping you grow at the same time.

5. Love can be found in the most unlikely of places. Sometimes it's in your best friend; sometimes you find it in a stranger. You never know.

6. During your worst times, it's good to have people who care about you around. It's hard to go through things alone, and if you feel like you are alone, don't be afraid to reach out to someone.

7. Be around people who accept you for who you are and make you feel good about yourself. People who bring you down aren't worth the time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
