These are common fears most rising freshmen deal with???

1. Am I going to make friends?

Friend goals since 1994

NBC

As someone who is not playing a sport for the college and does not plan on joining Greek life, I have worried how am I going to meet new people and find new friends? A piece of advice that I have heard from tons of current students that I plan to follow is getting involved! There are tons of clubs to join which ensures that everyone can find something they are interested in.

2. Is the workload going to be impossible?

All procrastinators can relate

The answer to this question is going to depend on how well your high school prepared you for college. Everyone should go into the school year ready to work hard in and out of the classroom to earn their grade. Being challenged with coursework in high school may have prepared some better than others but anyone can be a hard worker.

3. Will I get along with my roommates?

This is probably one of my stronger fears. I have heard horror stories of the worst roomates in history and I would hate for that to happen to me. I consider myself an easy person to get along with but like any other person I plan to lay down ground rules with my suitemates which is something everyone would do.

4. Will I get lost on campus?

Accurate representation of me the entire first week

Being a new student and someone who is terrible with navigation, this is bound to happen. In fact, at orientation, I had to ask a total of 5 different strangers to help me find my way back to my hotel from campus. But that's the thing, there is no shame in asking others for help and I am positive that other students will be very willing to help us youngins around campus.

5. Is the freshmen 15 real?

Some of our worst nightmares

Everyone talks about the freshmen 15 as if it happens to every college student. I think this fear applies more to girls than guys. For some girls, the thought of gaining fifteen pounds is the end of the world. Luckily, Charleston offers healthy food options in their dining halls and they have a nice gym open to all students. With the right choices, this fear can be easily avoided.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
