Freshman year of college is almost over and it has been a whirlwind of a year, to say the least. Who knew that this year would have gone by so fast. From moving across the country and starting fresh, to finding friends that I call family and studying what I love.

I'm from California so moving to the Midwest was a big change for me. However, I did know many people coming to Purdue and even current students so it made my move so much easier... or so I thought. Going to college and making new friends was a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Growing up I knew everyone around me and went to school with the same people for 4-12 years. There were many times first semester where I felt alone and unsure if I made the right decision.

Fast forward to the end of the year, and it's safe to say that I love being at Purdue and I feel right at home. I've come to love this campus and the people in it. I found some of my best friends that I get to live with next year and even found a family through the dance team Purdue Raas.

I got to travel to four different cities across the country this year with them and practice was the thing I looked forward to after a long day. I'm beyond grateful for the memories that I made and the experiences that I had this year.

I'm in the Krannert School of Management and I have always loved business. But taking classes and being a part of Women in Business has made that love grow stronger. I'm so excited about my future and all the possible opportunities that are to come.

While it wasn't always easy, freshman year is something I will always look back on with a smile. I struggled to be alone, going through drama and losing friends, and contemplating whether I was in the right place. It was a learning experience that I didn't know I needed, but something I am so thankful to have gone and grown through. At the end of it all, I came out strong, happy, and excited for what the next three years hold. So here's to future, Boiler Up!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
