The summer's almost over and you know what that means: we're almost there! Our first steps onto campus are in a few short weeks, so here's what we should be excited about.
1. Moving Away from Home
We might get homesick at some point, but the reward as Georgetown freshmen is great. No more curfews or parental supervision, but the complete freedom to do whatever we want.
2. New Student Orientation
New dorm, new roommate, and a new academic convocation = a new year. How much fun will it be to celebrate your school spirit by attending the pep rally and Welcome Jack BBQ?
3. Taking interesting classes and meeting your professors
Say goodbye to having nine (boring) classes a day! College is a time for us to try new things for the sake of learning about who we are and where our interests lie. Also, you know you're a Georgetown freshman when you hope to bump into Madeleine Albright on the way to class (we all do).
4. Exploring Washington, DC
DC is not only the U.S. capitol, but is also one of most mesmerizing cities in the world! Late night adventures in the city, studying at the Library of Congress, interning at the Hill, enjoying a picnic across from the White House, plus free museums and countless adventures...What more can you want?!
5. Attending the SFS Diplomatic Ball
There's a wonderful "je ne sais quoi" about attending the SFS diplomatic ball. But who are we kidding? We're probably there to gawk at every important and famous politician who walks by.
6. Being part of the student section at a Hoya basketball game

"Hoya Saxa! Hoya Saxa!" If you still don't know what 'hoya' means, then you haven't done your homework. Get ready for an intense game of b-ball, a stadium filled with deafening cheers, and a cute view of Jack the Bulldog. And don't worry, you'll learn the fight song in no time.
7. Getting to vote in the 2016 Presidential Election
It's likely that you've just turned legal this year and that in 2016, you'll be able to vote in your very first presidential election. Will it be Bernie? Will it be Hillary? The notorious Trump? No answer yet, but we know that during election season that it's bound to get crazy here in DC.
