So much has happened in the past couple of days, both positive and negative. Well first off, the Obama family left the White House sadly. Them leaving started a frenzy on twitter because since the millennial generation only knew Obama to be their president, it was hard to let him go. Many people compared Obama to their ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend that they took for granted and now they're gone. But that was just the start of the positive and negative stories that the press released to the public.
Many of the negative stories were about the presidency of Trump. Now, the majority of the press is liberal so of course, they would be talking negatively about Trump. At one point they were comparing the pictures of the inaugurations of 2009 and 2017. It's no surprise that Obama had more attendees to his inauguration than Trump did, according to the pictures. Comedy show, SNL was not holding their tongue with their jokes about Trump the weekend before his inauguration. Many jokes were geared towards some "pee incident" that Trump must not want to talk about, according to the show. It got to the point where Trump's Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, had some words for the press and their harsh words about Trump. To sum it all up, Spicer was basically calling the Press disrespectful for writing "lies" in their articles about the inauguration. He said the 20th had the "largest" crowd to see Trump sworn in. He said a lot in the 5-minute video of him bashing the press. But here's the thing, one of our amendment rights is the freedom of the press. What that means is, any journalist can write what they want to write about whoever they want to write about, it's their right.
But on a more positive note, this past Saturday, January 21st, it was the Women's March. Now I will say, that was the best media coverage I have ever seen when it came to women coming together. The most beautiful thing was, Madonna telling Trump, "F--- YOU!", it was so lovely. Well, that and women coming together to gain their confidence back. But the surprising thing was, the movement was not just in the U.S.! It was all around the world! Women of all ages and even men came out! If anyone looked at the pictures of the marches, it should've made them smile, especially the women.
