Tired of dull, boring Instagram photos? Sick of only having 23 filters to choose from? Are you tired of seeing these wonderfully crafted edits, and having to face the harsh reality that your photos will never look that artistic? Never fear, young one! I am here to share with you the secrets of the world (or rather, just my top six editing apps which is basically the same thing anyway). The best part? They’re all free, and fairly easy to use. Step up your creativity game as well as increase your follower count.
WARNING: The following applications are highly addicting. Download at your own risk.
1. TV Scanline
lines to your photo which creates an awesome ‘flicker’ effect as you scroll up & down. Go ahead; try this one out and see for yourself (quick tip: works best on darker and black/white images).
2. PicsArt
A multi-purpose app for all of your editing needs. With this app, you could adjust the properties of your photo (brightness, contrast, hue, etc.), draw on your photo, or even turn it into various shapes. It also comes with an infinite amount of effects such as pop art or artistic. Endless possibilities with this one.
3. Background Eraser
Not much of an explanation is needed here. It allows you to erase the background of an image, make it transparent and then add any background you desire. The process is easy; simply erase your background, choose the ‘transparent’ option, go into PicsArt (see #2), select the background of your choice, click on ‘Add Photo,’ and then just place your transparent image onto the photo. Yes, it’s THAT simple... Just 6 easy steps and BOOM; you have yourself an awesome photo.
4. “Phonto”
Ever download an editing app with only five
options for fonts? Well, those days are over! This app gives you access
to over 50 FREE fonts, all different styles, and allows you to add shadows, underlines and even
curve your text to give a more dramatic effect. Oh yeah, and did I
mention that all the fonts are free? Once you download this app, it’s
going to be the only one you’ll ever need - trust me.
5. “Repix”
Rather simplistic, but still quite fun to play around with. This app allows you to add numerous effects to your photo such as tiny rain droplets or flares. The only downside is that some of the effects do cost money. The rain drops are my personal favorite.
6. “Kamio”
Last, but certainly not least, Kamio. This app allows you to add transparent images to your photo. You could either browse stickers within the app itself, or import from your camera roll. If you prefer to use Google Images, simply search ‘tumblr transparents’ and you’ll find millions. You could also narrow down your search by typing in specific keywords. Cool? Cool.
Ex: girly, hipster, Starbucks, sports… You get the idea.
There you have it. I sincerely hope that this article greatly enhanced your life in some way. Happy creating, and happy procrastinating (you’ll be doing a lot of that once you download these apps).
I wish you the best of luck in all your future edits.
