Frank And Claire Underwood: The Couple You Love To Hate

"House of Cards" is one of my favorite shows. Anyone who knows me knows I love politics and anyone who has watched "House of Cards" knows that it’s one of the best political dramas ever made. I couldn’t wait for season four to come out. I’ve already finished it and I have to say it’s the best season yet. *Spoiler Alert*

The Underwoods, specifically Frank Underwood, have spent the last three seasons rising to power. Nothing and no one will stand in their way. Frank really believes that the end justifies the means, and as long as he comes out on top that's all that matters. The first two seasons of "House of Cards" really focused on his individual rise to the top. Claire knew about most of his wrongdoings and coverups, and she helped him through it, but for the most part she was just along for the ride.

In the third season, Claire hated Frank just as much as we did. She was ready to leave him. She wanted her own career and she was sick of putting herself behind Frank. She was sick of constantly sacrificing her career in the justification that Frank putting himself first helped her. All of that changed this season.

Frank went from being the man on top to being the weak one. Season four was really the season of Claire Underwood. She finally got to have her cake and eat it too (yes, I’m talking about Tom Yates). Frank nearly lost his wife, lost his life and he still may lose everything that he’s schemed for. If it weren’t for Claire this season, Frank’s house of cards definitely would have come tumbling down.

I always thought that Frank was possibly one of the most evil characters I have encountered, but Claire made Frank look like a pussycat this season. Frank has done a lot of questionable things throughout the show; killing multiple people, ruining countless careers, blackmailing people, breaking the law, but nothing he’s done compares to what Claire did this season. Claire killed her own mother to get ahead in the polls. She turned her back on Frank when he was literally in the hospital dying. And not only did she turn her back on him, but she used her husband’s critical condition to advance her career. However, the worst thing ever done on the show by either Underwood happened in the season finale.

In order to protect themselves from most of their wrongdoings finally catching up to them, Claire suggested that they should incite terror and fear by allowing an innocent man to be killed on live television by terrorists so they could start a war before the election. Out of all of the horrible things the Underwoods have done, this takes the cake. The fact that neither of them even thought twice about it and the fact that they showed no emotion other than satisfaction at the end of the episode was literally bone chilling. It made my stomach turn.

Frank and Claire Underwood are the best, worst dynamic duo. They will literally stop at nothing to ensure success for themselves. They are the couple whom you love to hate. It’s hard to see what they’re doing, and you hate them for it, but at the same time, you can’t help but watch. A small part of you is rooting for them. Frank and Claire rose to a whole new level of evil on this season of "House of Cards" and I can’t help but wonder where exactly it will take them. Here’s to a year of waiting for the next season so we can see what new, horrible things they do.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
