Fox Hills Resort, Thank You.

When I first came across Fox Hills at the career fair, I didn’t know what to expect. Everything the managers told me made it sound like an amazing opportunity, so I applied. I’m glad I did because I was right: this company has given me everything I need and was everything I hoped it would be.

The General Manager: Making the resort run smoothly is what gave us a good experience. Without everything you do for the resort, it wouldn’t be the same. Thank you for being good at your job, also getting to know us on a personal level, this made it a much more welcoming environment. Also, it was fun getting to know you as well because you have so many great experiences to share.

The HR Manager: Keeping in touch and answering my questions prior to accepting the offer is what made my good decision easier to make. Thank you for all of that and checking in with us to make sure we’re comfortable in every way and to make sure we were getting the experience we need.

Thank you to both of you for organizing social gatherings for the interns, they were very enjoyable. You always made me smile with your warm welcomes and good talks throughout the summer.

My direct manager: Your flexibility and time to help me learn is what made me successful in my tasks. Because of your guidance and have a lot show for on my resume. Thank you for that giving me something to look forward to at work so I never got bored.

The sales associate: Allowing me to observe and assist you gave me a chance to see how sales work professionally and at a higher level. I also learned some of your tasks proficiently which gave me more perspective in terms of what kind of full time positions I’d look at when the time comes. Thank you teaching me your ways.

Thank you to the whole office for the stories and good laughs, they’re some of my greatest memories of Fox Hills. For the random food we’d share, it was always brightened my day. And sorry for all the corn (inside joke). I can’t help it if it’s always in season.

My direct roommate: You really were the best I had, I’m not saying it just to say it. You always made a long day better with your smiles and great smells in the kitchen. You’re also a great friend and a lot of fun. Thank you.

My other roommates: It takes a special person to have the courage you have, to go halfway across the world to a country that’s so different than what you know and love. It takes an even more special person to do that and put up with the loud shenanigans that went on in our living room. Thank you for being you and I can’t wait to see you guys again real soon.

My fellow interns: You understood me the best because you’re in the same place as me, and it was always nice to chat about what that's like. Also to chat about anything else, there was always someone there. You’re the only ones who understand emotion I have for Fox Hills and I sure hope you share it with me. I’m glad you became my friends too, and I can’t wait to hang out with you when we get back to school!

Every other employee: I don’t have anything bad to say about anyone. Everyone has always been kind and a joy to be around. What I’ll miss the most about Fox Hills is having a friend around every corner, at any time. There was always a smile, a joke, a story and a listening ear every time I needed it.

I’m also gonna miss the gorgeous beach nearby, virgin bloodys after work, friendly neighbors, Festival Foods, trips to Titletown and golf carts. There was always something to learn, something to look forward to and always a reason to know I’m in a good direction.

I’ll be forever grateful for everyone and everything I experienced at Fox Hills Resort, where amazing is always in season.

Once again, thank you all for everything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
