Fourteen years ago, the world changed.
The world today only vaguely reminds me of the world fourteen years ago. Fourteen years ago, the United States of America was attacked. However, unlike any attack before, many civilians of this nation were killed.
In decades and centuries past, civilians were not killed and were kept away from the conflict as best as possible. For it was the soldiers in the field that perished, not civilians. However, 14 years ago, terrorists attacked the heart of this country: the normal citizen.
On Sept. 11th, 2001, many mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters woke up to go to work never to be heard from again. They would die by the hands of monsters. These monsters would take control of four planes with their targets set on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the White House. Their goal was to destroy the hope and resilience of America, an attempt to destroy our way of life, our fortitude.
However, in this, they would be confronted. Flight 93, showed the American Spirit. The flight had been taken over by terrorists, however, the people on board: the normal father and mother; fought back. In the end, the plane would be recaptured. However, the plane went down in the fields of Pennsylvania.
In response to this, America went to war. The night of Sept. 11th, the President addressed the people. In his speech, he talked about our resilience, our glow, how we are a light in the world. His expressions was just as that of the rest of the country: sorrow. However, the enemy did not win! Instead of us being fractured and scared we fought back.
This was only fourteen years ago. Now we are at war still with the foe that seeks to destroy us. To destroy the free world. To destroy what the West has come to know: the Judeo-Christian paradigm. Even though the West may try to claim we do not have this paradigm, the middle east and their culture believes so.
Now we are still en-brawled in this war. People are beginning to ask why did we go there in the first place? Is it our place to fight? Why do we do these things?
My simple reply is: remember. Remember that day and remember what happened. It needs to be said: our enemy is not the middle east, but a group of people who decide to kill those who oppose their beliefs, their views. However, I am sorry to tell them, this world is free.
Every man, women, and child has the very right to oppose a viewpoint, but they have no right to kill. This is the philosophy of the West, the philosophy of the Judeo-Christian paradigm. It is funny how the left rejects this paradigm and they want everyone to coexist, but the second you go against their beliefs they get haughty. The same is true with these monsters who kill innocents.
In closing, I ask you to remember the tragic day. I ask that you never forget. For the day is coming when a new generation will rise, more forgetful that the past generations. I have only one prayer: may God show mercy on us, on this country, and on this world. May our children remember this day, and never forget what happened fourteen years ago.
