Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which strict fasting is practiced from sunrise to sunset. This year it is from June 5 to July 5. Ramadan is considered to be one of the holiest months on the Islamic calendar because it involves strict fasting (of course), intense prayer and required charity work. Ramadan also give muslims an opportunity to learn many things.
1. Makes you realize how much you have and how little others have.
Ramadan requires you to do some charity work in any form. Ramadan helps us to understand the suffering and the pains of the poor and needy and help them.
2. It allows you to be more moderate.
Don't get me wrong sometimes at iftar I stuff myself with everything and anything I could find. However obviously not a good thing to do. It's never good to eat more than your body can take. Don't try to indulge too much and eat slowly.
3. More and more and more family gatherings.
This is really the month where all family members come together to break the fast. This is the time where we all set aside our differences and other obligations to all come together and eat. It also allows you to keep and build those relationships.
4. It allows you to improve yourself.
This is mainly a time to reflect on your life and the decisions you made as well as the future. You will be able to make changes in those areas and help you move forward.
