Living on campus is a part of the traditional college experience. It will teach you how to live with others and to upkeep your living spaces. It gives you access to more campus activities and events, as well as helps you meet new people. Even with all of these pros, it also has its downsides. Here are four different things that suck about living on campus.

1. Laundry Day is a Nightmare

When sharing laundry rooms, you're bound to run into some issues. Sometimes it's a small issue of a broken washer or the usual poor quality dryers that leave your clothes wet. But then there are the other people that use them. More specifically, the people who put their stuff into the machine and leave it for hours. People with common sense will use a timer to make sure they don't leave their laundry. Others use multiple washers and dryers and leave their stuff in there for days. If you have to use 4 washers at one time, that means you have to do laundry more than once a month.

2. The Food is Questionable

Most of us know that food at a college isn't a 5-star meal, but most of the time it's more questioning what they are serving. Some colleges have dorming with kitchens for the students to use, while others require a meal plan. With that being said, the amount of food that I had to question what it was supposed to be is astonishing. Chicken and Biscuits is a chicken nugget on a Pillsbury biscuit. Other food is mediocre to the point where I've walked into the food hall, only to turn around.. We can see why students love to eat out or eat like pigs when we go home.

3. Neighbors

Sometimes, the silent neighbor is the best. I'd rather hear nothing than hear neighbors slamming doors, blasting music at 3 AM on a weekday, or smell the stenches of B.O. or other scents. Personally, my neighbors are in the middle so I can't complain that much. However, I have been in other rooms where the neighbors leave the hallways trashed, and are completely inconsiderate towards the others.

4. Suitemates/Roommates are a Hit Or Miss

The people you live with can be a make or break point of the college life. You can have the ones, like your neighbors, who blast music and make loud noises on nights before a big exam and leave a mess. Others can be considerate and be decent human beings. I'm glad to say that my roommates aren't the kind who actually treat each other with respect.

Even with these downsides of living on campus, it truly does teach you the ways of living with others, and even on your own. You'll learn how to keep your space clean and learn how to live on your own.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
