On April 15, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. But to this day, you can find him lying on sidewalks, wedged in between couch cushions, and getting cozy in your wallet. He is everywhere... well, on pennies.
But unlike pennies, rarely will you find quarters lying around and rarely will you leave quarters behind. Why is this? Well, 25 pennies may be worth as much as one quarter, but the value is different.
Similarly, pennies and quarters are a lot like the friends we choose.
You see, penny friends are easy to come by. These are friends with which you hang out in big groups, post cute pictures, and even make fun memories. However, they come and go. Granted, penny friends are not wrong or even bad to have, but don't catch yourself relying on them to be there for you through thick and thin.
Quarter friends, on the other hand, are ones that outlast the test of time. The value of a quarter friendship is much greater than that of a penny friendship. This is because quarter friends are hard to come by. They are your bridesmaids. They are your groomsmen. They are your literal best friends. And sometimes, these friends come in packages you would never expect.
So how do you define a quarter friend?
1. They push you.
2. They laugh with you...and also at you.
3. They complement you.
4. They call you out.
5. They jam out with you.
6. They support you.
7. They keep it real.
8. They cry with you.
9. They belly laugh with you.
10. They encourage you.
11. They are honest with you.
12. They see the good in you.
13. ...They also see the bad and the ugly.
14. They hold you accountable.
15. They know you.
16. They invest in you.
17. They give your life meaning.
18. They love you for who you are.
19. They bear your burdens.
20. They embrace you.
21. They believe in you.
22. They forgive you.
23. They inspire you.
24. They uplift you.
25. They VALUE you.
You can amount to a dollar with four quarters or 100 pennies. The worth is the same. Yet an individual quarter had more value than that of a penny.
So, four quarters are greater in value than 100 pennies; likewise, four true friends are greater in value than 100 "friends." So find those quarter friends! They are worth much more than 25 cents... they're priceless.
