My parents have recently decided that after a lot of thinking and praying, they would do foster care. They had wanted to once I moved out, and since I moved out this summer, they decided to get the ball rolling. My mom has poured over what color to paint my old room to make sure it is gender neutral, asking my advice often and looking and different paint chips for weeks, as well as looking at different comforters and bedding to match. They've done home studies and filled out endless paperwork. I had to answer questions about my parents, as did my brother. And now my parents are close to having foster kids.

So to the kids who end up being blessed with my parents as their foster parents, even if it's just for a short time:

I know life up until now has not been easy. I know you have probably been through things I can't even imagine and have never seen or dealt with myself. I know you are probably scared and terrified and you don't know what to expect of my parents. But I'm here to tell you you have nothing to worry about. My parents will take good care of you.

They will support you and push you to succeed. They will embrace you and make you a part of our family. They will help you in any way they can to make you more comfortable. They will never stop trying to make things better for you. They'll feed you and clothe you and give you everything they can think of. They will treat you well and be good to you. You are getting a great pair of individuals as your foster parents. They are so excited to meet you I promise. Be good to them and let them embrace you and be there for you and try to understand you, because they are so excited to be your foster parents. And I'm excited to be your sister. We are all so happy and blessed to have you in the family.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
