For most of us, the thought of college can be overwhelming. When I was a senior in high school, one mention of the word and I would mentally shut down.
But college is a place that teaches you many great things. Besides the average stuff like advanced arithmetic and upper level English, college is a place that teaches you who you are as a person.
Remember those niches of people in high school, those exclusive groups of people who associated with no one else? You know you had your own group of people like that. Well in college, while you will have your circle of really close friends, you'll find it easier to associate with as many people possible. You'll find yourself making conversation with people who you only just met. Many people will have the same interests as you and that could be a great intro to a flourishing friendship.
There are also so many opportunities to develop yourself. You can take a few hours after class, go sit in the library or outside, and just think. You could also read or write, but that is all preference. If you prefer physical activities you could hit up the gym with some new college buddies. Or you could just take a break from your daily struggles and grab a bite to eat with your friends and discuss life.
Joining a club that interests you is a great place to meet like-minded individuals who share the same interests as you. It creates a great atmosphere for yourself where you can freely share thoughts and feelings while also still feeling wanted and accepted.
So, obviously college is not high school. The classes get harder and it costs money, but that does not mean that it isn't something to look forward to! It is a great place to find yourself, make life long friends, and gain that freshman 15!
