I know how you feel, I really do.
I know how desperate you are to feel something other than the soul-crushing despair you feel night after night. That's really when it's the worst, isn't it? At night? There's something about nighttime where you really are alone. Everyone is asleep, there's no one to talk to or see. It's just you and your pain and you feel like the weight of it is crushing you.
You feel guilty in a way as well. I mean, it's only heartbreak that you're experiencing, things could be a lot worse and you tend to discredit your pain. But you didn't realize that you would actually feel physical pain when your heart is broken. You didn't realize that the weight of it could suffocate you.
You think about it over and over again and you feel utterly hopeless. It's been a month and if you still feel this bad, how will you ever feel better? And maybe a month isn't a long time but to you it feels like a year. Everybody says, "time will heal," but you don't want to wait that long. The pain is so bad that you just want to move on from it. You're desperate to do anything you can to distract yourself so that you don't have to feel that heavy sadness and maybe sometimes Netflix, writing or going out with friends helps but as soon as it's night again, it comes back.
I know how you feel, I feel it too.
I'm sorry to say but I haven't found any definite answers yet, and if you have please share them with me. I'm sorry to say that maybe they're right, maybe we just have to deal until the pain dulls and it doesn't hit us as hard anymore. Until then, it will hurt and there will many nights of 3am ugly cries but just know that you're not alone in it. I'm here along side you trying to work through the same pain along with thousands of others.
You're not alone.
It will be okay.
We'll get through it together, one night at a time and one day, we'll look back at this article and wonder why we ever felt so much pain to begin with.
That's what I'm choosing to believe today.
