For The Sake Of Love

Love advice for young people

For The Sake Of Love
Natalie Davis

I have felt the butterflies and the heat rush to my cheeks, sure, but I have also felt the sting of heartbreak and rejection.

I have never been in a relationship, but for some odd reason I am the one people come to for advice, so let me tell you a little something about love.

1. Don’t settle.

If you are with someone because you feel no one could ever love you, you couldn’t be more wrong. There is someone in this world for you; sometimes, it takes time to find that person. You need to find yourself as well. Give it time. Don’t settle if you are not happy.

2. You’re not a “slut.”

Whether you’re a guy or girl, this is the same. You are not a terrible person if you’ve had sex. There seems to be this negative image placed on people who dress a certain way or even do "it" young. Let me tell you something: That does not give someone the right to disrespect you or treat you as if you are a lesser human being. If you are with someone who uses your past against you or calls you names because you don’t want to do something, he/she does not deserve you.

3. Fights happen.

Wait, read that again. That’s right, they happen. You can't let a small fight dictate your whole relationship. You cannot avoid your problems; communication is key. A relationship has a lot of ups and downs. The beauty of love is the fact that you can work through them and be stronger because of it.

4. It takes time.

One of the things I realized is that finding the right person takes time. It doesn’t mean that you're not pretty enough. It doesn't mean that you're not smart enough. It just means that your person is out there and needs some time to find you.

5. You are worth it.

You are worth it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
