I have felt the butterflies and the heat rush to my cheeks, sure, but I have also felt the sting of heartbreak and rejection.
I have never been in a relationship, but for some odd reason I am the one people come to for advice, so let me tell you a little something about love.
1. Don’t settle.
If you are with someone because you feel no one could ever love you, you couldn’t be more wrong. There is someone in this world for you; sometimes, it takes time to find that person. You need to find yourself as well. Give it time. Don’t settle if you are not happy.
2. You’re not a “slut.”
Whether you’re a guy or girl, this is the same. You are not a terrible person if you’ve had sex. There seems to be this negative image placed on people who dress a certain way or even do "it"young. Let me tell you something: That does not give someone the right to disrespect you or treat you as if you are a lesser human being. If you are with someone who uses your past against you or calls you names because you don’t want to do something, he/she does not deserve you.
3. Fights happen.
Wait, read that again. That’s right, they happen. You can't let a small fight dictate your whole relationship. You cannot avoid your problems; communication is key. A relationship has a lot of ups and downs. The beauty of love is the fact that you can work through them and be stronger because of it.
4. It takes time.
One of the things I realized is that finding the right person takes time. It doesn’t mean that you're not pretty enough. It doesn't mean that you're not smart enough. It just means that your person is out there and needs some time to find you.
5. You are worth it.
You are worth it.
