You never expect that everything you had grown accustomed to would change at the drop of a dime. Spending two years of your life with someone seems like such a small chunk of your life when you look back in time. Although it seems short, there is nothing that can describe the hurt you feel when it all ends and its not on your terms. Life seems to become harder when the person you thought was your life... leaves.

To the Girl Whose Life Was Turned Upside Down,

You are more than enough and eventually someone will see the stars in your eyes and hang on tight. Your world is not defined by the love that another person once gave you. You are capable of amazing things and your beauty shines brighter than you could have ever imagined. For so long you defined yourself through a boy who did not share the same idea of the future as you, and that's okay. You will be okay, It may seem like your world is crumbling, and it may be the demolition of one part of your world, but not your whole world. You will triumph and the victory will be sweet.

So, Hold your head high and remember these three things:

1. The world has not stopped but instead it is just beginning for your new adventures

Believe in yourself and the amazing things that you can accomplish. You are the only person who can define your life, and do not allow this minor set back to have a negative impact on your major comeback. There is a world worth exploring out there, go and tackle all of it.

2. Your beauty runs deep

It is hard to imagine your beauty when you feel like you have been deserted, but I promise you that you are beautiful in every way imaginable. You can not allow this boy to define who you are because he is not the one if he feels the need to change who you are, Your beauty runs deeper than anything he could dream of changing you into.

3. Let go and live a little

It is okay to move on and to find happiness in things that are not this boy, you are allowed to make your own decisions without fear of his opinion, Allow yourself this freedom and the sooner you will be able to find yourself and who you are without interference from him.

It will not be easy, and it will take time, but the view is worth the climb. I believe in you, and now the next step is to believe in yourself.

sincerely,

The girl who has worn your shoes and walked the path you're on.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
