It's so easy to become overwhelmed. There's always things to do, people to see, and places to be. It's the whispers at night that tell us we're not enough nor will we ever be. We compare our lives to others till we're full of envy with the green eyed monster. There's a constant anxiousness that we begin to carry in our hearts. Any good news a friend shares with us we rejoice with them on the outside and beat ourselves up on the inside. Then we start to tell ourselves we need to work harder, try better, be more. Control kicks in. In order to fulfill this superficial tall order of working harder, trying better, and being more we have to be in control. Three steps ahead of the game to keep up on top and keeps up steering the wheel the way we've planned.

Friends, this is exhausting. I'm exhausted. Always fearful of what unplanned circumstance I didn't plan for is around the corner. Losing my mind over things that honestly weren't in my control in the first place. Anxious over the idea of tomorrow already losing the purpose of today.

But God has called me from this life of anxiety and control. He tells me to rest easy because all of the tomorrows are already His. That is I truly believed He is a good, good father and that His faithfulness is true to His Word, then I am free. It's not an easy concept and it doesn't come without discipline, prayer, and surrender. Don't take it from me though, Christ has said it all so much better.

"When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer." Psalm 94:19

“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” Luke 12:22-26

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” Psalm 55:22

“I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;his mercies never come to an end: they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24

"Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me." Psalm 54:4

The Lord created you, He has purpose for you. Be still. Let go. Rest your anxious heart on the promises of already taken cared of tomorrows. He is good.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
