This story is a little late for Mother's Day, but I still wanted to write something about my mom. Why? Is it because I'm an awesome son? Not really, I'm more of an above average son. I wanted to write something about my mom because she is an awesome mom and I want people to know.
I'm the oldest of my mom's kids as well as being her oldest son, and she's been stuck with me for more than 19 years. Growing up she has always been one of my favorite people and she still shows an interest in my life. Whenever I have an event on campus or whenever I am given any kind of award or honor, she is always asking me which events she can come to and she's always asking me for pictures. In elementary school, middle school, and high school, my mom was always ready to take pictures and give hugs for whatever I did, but she does not have as many of those opportunities now that I am in college. However, whenever I come home, she is always there to give me a big hug as soon as I put my books down.
My mom is always interested in everything I do, and she is willing to listen to whatever I want to tell her. If I tell her about my English classes and all of the papers I have to write, she will listen. If I tell her about my job and all of the people I had to work with, she will listen. Or if I tell her about my day out with my friends and the places I went out to eat, she will listen. My mom cares, and she will show that she cares by listening to me ramble and rant for as long as I can talk before I end up remembering that I still have to eat dinner after a long day of classes and work.
My mom and I might not always agree, or we will both sometimes struggle to get the last word in an argument, but she always reminds me how much she loves and cares for me. I am happy that she is my mom, because I do not think any other woman would have been willing to put up with me for so long. I have a smart mouth, I get into things I probably should stay out of, I overthink things, and I do not always pay attention, and as much as all of that will get on my mom's nerves, she still loves me and will not leave. To my mom, Happy Mother's Day!
