Some foods have a good aftertaste. In fact, sometimes the aftertaste is better than the initial taste you get from the first bite. The same is true for foods with a bad aftertaste. Have you ever thought of the aftertaste people have? Not the literal aftertaste, let's keep this PG.

Sometimes when a food has a strong aftertaste, it is enough for me not to eat it again no matter how good the initial bite was. With that said, I don't know what that is worth because I am one of the most picky eaters I have ever lived to know. When I think of a food that has given me a bad aftertaste, it leads me to taste aversion.

If you don't know what taste aversion is, here is the best wikipedia definition you'll find: "Conditioned taste aversion occurs when a human/animal associates the taste of a certain food with symptoms caused by a toxic, spoiled, or poisonous substance. Generally, taste aversion is developed after ingestion of food that causes nausea, sickness, or vomiting." Okay sorry for that visual, gross right? Anyways, let us think about that definition. A food that causes us to be nauseous, sick or vomit...

Has anyone ever made you feel nauseous, sick or even made you literally vomit because of their actions? Here is the linkage between the two that I am trying to make.

After someone makes me feel this way, which if I might add is very hard to do, I will try to avoid them at all costs. The thing that bothers me the most is that I give these people the ability to make me sick to my stomach, or mad, or sad or whatever emotion comes out first. It isn't fair that sometimes these emotions are out of mine and our control, for they just happen.

Well not anymore. If you close your eyes and think about someone who has made you feel like this, yet you still continue communication with them, or even "love" this individual, get it together.

The aftertaste people give says so much about their character it is so stupid to ignore that. I could name three foods I have gotten sick from that I will not eat again, so why go back to that person who gave you such a bitter aftertaste and allow them the opportunity to do it again?

Aftertastes aren't always bad. Some foods give you a great aftertaste. Mostly sour things because they're sweet towards the end. Surround yourself with people who give you a good aftertaste. Surround yourself with people who make you feel as good as you feel after taking a bite of your favorite food.

Surround yourself with the wild, the clean, the fresh, the kind. Pull the plug on the sick, the unworthy, the nauseous feeling you have when you see that person's name. Every time you get that sour taste in your mouth reminding you of the bitter past, tell yourself you are better without that person because I promise you are.

Know your worth. Be better, surround yourself with better. Leave a good aftertaste.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
