Whatever you are doing and wherever you are going be fully present and look at life through your eyes and not your phone.

In today's day and age social media is taking over like a storm, whether it is Snapchat or Instagram or Twitter, no matter what is it, people seem to be constantly on their phones. In fact, you are probably on your phone right now reading this, have you looked up lately?

I mean really looked up, not glanced because there was a loud noise or someone walked by, really looked up. Looked at the world around you, the people around you, watched them laugh or smile. When was the last time you looked at the world without the view of your phone?

Have you really looked at the people around you, have you been fully present everywhere you are or are you too worried about the text or like or snap you'll get next?

Your time is precious and so are the people you are with, your phone will always be there the people that are around you will not always be. So stop and enjoy them, enjoy the life around you and fall in love with the people around you and the places surrounding you. Your phone is there to help you to communicate with people who are not there it is not meant to keep you from the ones who are there.

Life will fly by and before you know it you will have spent most of it asleep or on your phone instead of enjoying the beautiful world around you. So I challenge you to this, fall in love with a stranger, make someone smile and really watch their face when you do, watch it light up and the corners of their mouth skyrocket up. Be adventures, go somewhere new and get out of your comfort zone and really look at the world around you and how breathtaking it is.

I dare you to do something you love so much you will not even feel the need for your phone. I dare you to no matter what it is you are doing or where it is you are going to, for a little while, go without your phone, be fully present exactly where you are and give the people you are with the best of you.

Be present in your life and not a zombie behind your phone because the real treasures in life are not the number of likes you get or who you can get to follow you but instead in the precious moments spent face to face with people and the world. Stop worrying about who you can impress on the internet and instead on who is in the here and now with you.

I dare you to be fully present wherever you find yourself and to live all of your best adventures for you and not for some Instagram photo to impress someone you have never met. Live your life for you and experience every single part of it with your own eyes and your own thoughts and with people who are there and not those who may or may not double tap a screen.

I dare you to be happy and to go on some crazy adventure but to do it without your phone and to be fully present wherever you are because life is short and the people who matter most are right in front of you. This life is too beautiful and precious to waste if you would only put down the phone and see there is beauty everywhere.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
