FOMO Can You Not?

FOMO is my biggest enemy.

You are probably wondering what is FOMO?

FOMO stands for Fear Of Missing Out and if you're in college you know this feeling all too well.

Fear of missing out can be mild or severe depending on the situation, what's being done, and who is involved.

Example: Meghan you need to come out with us tonight it is literally going to be so lit.

Ok well, I have like 40 papers to write, 300 pages in this textbook to read, and 5 exams to take all by tomorrow but literally if I see them out on their snap chat story and I am not out there with them, I'm going to hate myself.

So there are two ways that you can deal with FOMO.

You can either be like me and be an OCD planner and have everything done and figured out before the event so you know your responsibilities are taken care of before you agree to going out and doing things with your friends so you don't have to say no.

Or you have to be an adult and actually just say no. Sometimes the peer pressure is even more severe in college rather than in high school but I promise you, saying no isn't going to kill you.

There are going to be more parties.

There are going to be more best friend ice cream dates.

There are going to be more football games.

And most importantly, you are going to survive and overcome your personal FOMO.

Never put yourself in a position where you're neglecting your responsibilities and commitments just because you are scared you're going to miss out on a night with your friends.

We have all experienced this before and we have all overcame the fear of missing out.

Just always remember that your responsibilities are what carry you over to being a successful college student and they will lead you to being a successful professional after college as well.

As hard as it may be. don't sub come to FOMO! You will survive, I promise you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
