25 Ways To Focus On Self-Care

I think everyone should try to create more opportunities for self-care, and I also think people want to, but they aren't sure how.

25 Ways To Focus On Self-Care

Self-care has been a phrase lightly tossed around for the last decade, and the thought may make most people often roll their eyes. Most people probably think self-care is just good hygiene and occasionally taking a bubble bath. However, it is so much more than that.

The act of self-care is important, but it is not something that comes easily to lot of people. Modern-day society tends to tell us that being an emotional individual, and engaging in things like proper self-care, makes us weak as a person.

I think everyone should try to create more opportunities for self-care, and I also think people want to, but they aren't sure how.

Therefore, here is a list of ways to promote self-care within your everyday life.

1. Do at least three things, solely for yourself, that make you happy every day.

2.Ask your close friends or family members for help, even when you don't think you need it.

3. Always communicate one-hundred percent exactly what you want, what you need, and how you are feeling. Leaving words unspoken or bottled up is a great way to create an unhealthy mind.

4. Working out and engaging in physical activity on a regular basis.

5. Saying no.

6. And sticking to it, when you do say no.

7. Always make time for downtime!

8. Light a candle and read a good book.

9. Pray or meditate- whichever you think will work best for you.

10. Embrace change, it's always going to be inevitable.

11. Be kind to others (and it will make you feel better too).

12. Try your hardest to invest all of your mind, soul, and energy on the present.

13. Constantly reflect on your progress and small victories in life.

14. Think productively.

15. Don't waste energy and emotions on things in life that you can't control.

16. Stay organized.

17. Celebrate others success, because whenever the time comes the favor will hopefully be returned.

18. Be sure to schedule some alone time for yourself.

19. Be willing to fail. The pressure of always having to succeed is unhealthy (and impossible).

20. Take a hard look at what you think your core values are, or what you think they should be.

21. Turn your phone off for a few hours.

23. Write all of your thoughts down in a journal.

24. Surround yourself with positive people and thoughts

25. Put yourself first.

While self-care may not be the easiest task for us to prioritize, it is beyond important that we try our hardest to complete the task. I really feel like knowing the proper forms of self-care for yourself could help fix so many of your struggles.

Therefore, within the next month of your life, purposely think of completing the small actions that self-care calls you to do.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
