Growing up is hard. Whether you are eight or 28 years old, you are trying to figure out who you are and what you want to be. At the same time, you have hundreds of different sources telling you exactly who they think you should be, how you should look and what you should do. It’s confusing and frustrating, and oftentimes, it leaves you feeling defeated. How can you possibly change yourself to conform to everyone’s separate standards? Disney lets us know that you can’t, and that’s OK. Throughout their years of movie-making, they have shown us that flaws are what make us special.
Those things that you hate about yourself, you loved in your favorite characters.
For example...
Your crazy hair.
Your stand-out scar.
Your unique laugh.
Your freckles.
Your braces.
Your shyness.
Your crooked smile.
The way you talk.
The way you get excited about the little things.
The way you look at the world.
Or maybe you're just a little bit crazy.
And that's OK!The next time you are worried about something you can't change, stop and think about your favorite Disney characters. It was their differences that made them special, not their uniformity. The world isn't made of robots, and you should be proud of who you are. Remember, what you call a flaw is actually a character trait and makes you who you are. You're special, and Disney helps us see that.
