As spring 2015 trends make their way from runways to streets, it is time to look back on the fads that were, oh, so hot just a decade ago. Can you believe it has been 10 years since you admired these millennial fashion icons?
Hilary Duff
The Disney teen queen with an unblemished record. Although she was an outfit repeater and outcast on Lizzie McGuire, her endearing spirit inspired every underdog to stand up to their Kate Sanders. Rocking everything from jean mini-skirts to baby doll dresses, her style was eclectic and emulated by preteens worldwide. While everybody's favorite girl next door donned all the latest trends of 2005, frankly, her peasant top is “So Yesterday."
Avril Lavigne
The edgy pop star rocked fingerless gloves, ties, and fishnets without hesitation. Giving rise to the etched on, sharpie-esque eyeliner fad, most of her preteen fans looked grown up before they had even found one “Sk8r Boi." Fun fact: there is a 100 percent correlation between liking Avril Lavigne and your middle school self referring to your style as "goth" or "grunge."
Lindsay Lohan
One year after Mean Girls, two years before her first rehab stint -- 2005 was truly the beginning of the end for Lindsay Lohan. It was clear she was no longer the sweet girl from The Parent Trap, or the fearless Lola from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Although she was barely legal, her style was extremely mature and risqué. With her newly dyed blonde locks, 18-year-old Lohan was usually seen sporting leopard print, jersey skirts, and tube tops.
Paris Hilton
The OG Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton was the girl everyone loved to hate. It was a Simple Life for her back then -- before she released “If the Stars Are Blind," passed age 30, and truly became irrelevant. She showed tons of skin and was a big proponent of the Juicy Couture sweat suit fad. Instead of adding jewelry or other accessories to her looks, Hilton usually opted for a Chihuahua.
As they say, “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." And, trust me, I don't think any of us want a repeat of the 2005 gaucho pants craze.
