Be Thankful More.
Ten months is a long time, enough time for life changing events to occur even some that are deemed mundane. Ten months to fall in love, ten months to start a family, ten months to heal a broken heart and ten months to forget to be thankful. Notice how throughout those ten months, being thankful is lost in shuffle until November rolls around. People start to do this be thankful every day or name a thing that you are thankful for every day in the month of November. Then December arrives and everyone around you are trying to be thankful, caring and all together nicer. We should be thankful, nice and caring throughout all twelve months and not just the two at the end of the year. Here are five reasons why we should be thankful throughout the whole year.
1. Be thankful for where you are in life. Though it’s easily forgotten, be thankful for being born in the America, be thankful that you are alive and here. We read the news and see people constantly complaining about America, yelling, scream and fighting. We get lost in this maze of anger and we forget that we are in America, a free land. Be thankful for this.
2. Don’t be cliché. Don’t fall into the mainstream of you only need to be thankful in November, don’t do the November challenge where you list something you are thankful for every day in the month of November. Better yet I challenge you to list something that you are thankful for three hundred sixty five days straight.
3. Pay it forward. Good deeds do not go unnoticed, though it feels like it at times they don’t. When you are thankful, you are more inclined to help others to reach out. To offer help, a hug or even a shoulder to cry on. You are more open to these encounters.
4. Be thankful for what you have. We live in a time where we are told that the more things you have, the happier you become. We are bombarded with it daily, from newsfeeds on Facebook to commercials on TV. This is false, be content and thankful for what you have. A roof over your head, a bed to sleep, food in your stomach, a tv that you can just leave on and fall asleep to. These seem like small lame things, but they aren’t. Be thankful.
5. Be thankful for life. Life is such a rush that we forget to stop and enjoy it. We see a special sunset and think “I’ll catch the next one” never knowing if there will another sunset like that one. Life is full of moments and we tend to forget and let them fly by, till we get older and we looking back and we realize we wish we enjoyed it more. That we were more thankful for that moment at that very time. It’s okay, I am a victim of this as well. This is just a reminder for you and me to be thankful for every moment that life offers and enjoy it to the fullest.
It’s a small thing with a big impact upon our lives, you can take them as reasons or reminders whatever have you. But in the end and when you walk away I hope what you take with you is that you will try to be more thankful in life, as will I.
