No matter how much you love our country, democracy, and the amazing right that is voting, I'm sure that you're probably sick of hearing about the 2016 election. Whether it's about Clinton's emails, Trump's dodging of taxes, or another one of the plethora of topics we have seemed to beat senseless, we've all heard enough. While I personally think voting is one of the most important things we can do as an American citizen, and I find it equally important to educate yourself on both candidates in order to choose who you should vote for, even I'm sick of these campaigns. Here are five reasons why we all can't wait for this election to be over.
1. The advertisements will finally come to an end
This is basically true in all elections, but the ad campaigns ran in this one seem especially annoying. I literally cannot hear Trump say "Crooked Hillary" one more time while trying to watch TV or I think my head will explode. Not only have they invaded television ads, but online ones, too. I'm sure we can all attest to trying to watch a Youtube video and instead being bombarded by Hillary Clinton's voice. Please, for the love of everything good Hillary, I am just trying to watch videos of cute monkeys.
2. You can get online without seeing Trump's pursed lips everywhere you click
I cannot wait for the day that I do not have to look at Donald Trump's orange face every time I get onto Facebook. I mean seriously, who wants to be greeted with this while just trying to do their morning browsing?
Definitely not me.
3. You don't have to feel the situation become tense whenever two people with differing views come to blows
I am all for healthy discussions of politics, but in the case of this election, it seems nearly impossible. We all know how it feels to experience the tension and animosity when a Trump supporter and a Hillary supporter start arguing. When the election is over, at least there will be a clear winner and a clear loser. Well, there already kind of is, but some people still don't really get that.
4. You no longer have to try and guess if what you're reading is an Onion article or something Donald Trump actually said
When some of your most memorable quotes include talking about your "small hands," stating our current president is the founder of ISIS, and even more that I feel gross typing out, it's hard not to wonder if they're from an Onion article or not.
5. When all is said and done, you'll be able to say that you voted in one of the most newsworthy elections of this century
It's hard to imagine an election that has had two more different candidates than this one. However, I truly believe that we should all still cast our votes on election day. Voting is one of the most important rights we are given, and we should make it count in order to keep our country a safe, welcoming for everyone, whether they be minorities, women, members of the LGBTQ community, or apart of a different group. When this election is over, we'll all be able to say that we helped shape our country's future by voting.
