Five Anime Characters that would Make Excellent Fraternity Brothers

The stereotypes of fraternity men run rampant, some more valid than others. This makes it difficult to find articles that portray Greek life in a positive light, other than TFM (which I am still not sure helps or hinders Greek Life). In this article I will try to put a fictional character to the literal fraternity members those of us in Greek life know and love.

5. Suna (“My Love Story”)

I know what you’re thinking, how does a character from a shoujo romantic comedy embody anything related to fraternity life at all? Those who have seen the show understand exactly the superficial aspects of Suna’s fraternal inclinations. Suna is the ideal wingman because he follows the ideal “bros before hoes” rule to a T. Through watching, simply, the first five episodes of the show you realize that Suna is the guy who comes out of the new membered process as embodying “one for all”.

4. Momonga, Ainz Ooal Gown (“Overlord”)

In the Yggdrasil universe guilds seem to run the politics and excitement of the game world, the largest and most successful of these guilds, Ainz Ooal Gown. In the way Suna demonstrates the perfection in putting individuals before himself, Momonga demonstrates an individual putting the larger entity above himself. His principle interests in the world his dungeon is moved to revolve around either uniting any other Yggdrasil players or spreading the name Ainz Ooal Gown as far as possible. He also demonstrates superb leadership skills thrust unwillingly into his role.

3. Kurabara (“Yu Yu Hakusho”)

Those of us in fraternities all know a Kurabara. This is the sucker who is the brunt of most jokes and struggles in school regardless of how hard he works. Despite these deficits, you can be sure that if you get in trouble this kid is right behind you edging to get in on the fight. He also understands that he will never be a member of exec board or hold much power in the house in general. Regardless, he sacrifices his time and energy to make sure anything that happens goes as planned. This is the silent hero of the fraternity.

2. Panty and Stocking (“Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt”)

I don’t know if this is technically allowed considering these are two people and that neither of them is male but who cares, it’s my list. Ideally, you want either a Panty or a Stocking pinned to your house. Stocking eats as much if not more than your biggest brother and no doubt can out drink or out gamble any individual in the house. She’s just one of the guys. Panty, on the other hand, is the greatest recruiting tool in your arsenal. A girl who can hold her own and talks more about sex than half the fraternity combined. Plus, she gives precious insight into the female psyche which we all know to be untraversible by men.

1. Kamina (“Toppa Tengen Gurren Lagaan”)

Kamina, the ideal president, has everything going for him. He is great with ladies, takes over a room with his personality, has a bad habit of doing everything wrong but everything ending up better than it was to start, motivates others and can draw out the true potential in all his subordinates. His ability to groom the next leader is also vital to the chapter’s health. Not to mention, who wouldn’t want to call Kamina brother?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
