Five Alcoholic Drinks To Enjoy This Summer

Summer of 2016 is my first summer as a 20-year-old so I have complied five drinks me and everyone else should consider making this summer! That is, if you’re of legal age, of course! All of the drinks I found for this article were found on Pintrest or other webistes and I have credited everyone I've taken photos/information from!

1. Bahama Mama

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 oz lemon juice
  2. 1/4 oz coffee liqueur
  3. 1 fluid ounce rum
  4. 1 fluid ounce coconut-flavored rum
  5. 1 fluid ounce grenadine syrup
  6. 2 fluid ounce orange juice
  7. 2 fluid ounce pineapple juice
  8. 1 cup cracked ice

Preparation:

Combine regular rum, coconut rum, grenadine, coffee liqueur, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and cracked ice. Shake together and serve in a 12 oz glass over ice. Garnish with a cherry, a slice of pineapple and an umbrella.

This is what I call the perfect summer drink! With all the fruity flavors and the beautiful final product look, I could see myself enjoying one of these on the beach or beside the pool! A definite positive to the drink as well is how simplistic it is and can be made with everyday ingredients found in your household, such as lemon juice, cracked ice and orange juice.

2. Electric Lemonade

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. Vodka or Rum

1/2 oz. Blue Curacao

2 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix

7-Up or Sprite

Lemon Slice

Ice

Preparation:

Fill a glass with ice. Add vodka, blue curacao, and sweet and sour mix. Fill glass with 7up or Sprite. Mix gently and enjoy!

Everyone knows lemonade is a staple for being a summer drink, though I typically like to enjoy it all year round! But using very few expensive alcoholic ingredients, I'd say I'm gonna have to electrify my lemonade next time!

3. Going-Off-The-Deep-End Daiquiri

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz rum

3 oz blueberry juice

1 oz pineapple juice

1 squeeze fresh lemon

Preparation:

Add ingredients do a glass full of ice, mix together and enjoy!

I was instantly attracted to this drink because of the color! I feel like you see a lot of blue and orange and red drinks but purple is just so eye-catching! The name as well drew my attention! It looks like a refreshing, fun drink to try this summer!

4. Jingle Jangle Punch

credit: redbookmag.com

Ingredients:

1.5 cups berry vodka

3/4 cups Grand Marnier

6 pints of fresh berries (raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries)

1 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed—about 8 lemons)

1.5 cups simple syrup

1 bottle sparkling wine (Something Extra Dry)

Preparation:

1. Combine all the ingredients (except the berries and sparkling wine) in a large glass or plastic container (or pitcher). Stir well.

2. Wash the berries.

3. When ready to serve, first fill the punch bowl with ice. Pour a small amount of the mixture in a cocktail shaker.

4. Add about five to seven berries.

5. Top with ice and shake HARD. (Make sure you shake hard enough so that the berries break apart in the cocktail shaker.)

6. Strain into the punch bowl.

7. Keep repeating steps until the mixture is all shaken and in the punch bowl.

8. Top the punch with about 3/4 of the bottle of sparkling wine and stir well.

9. Top the punch with additional berries and serve.

A little more complicated than the other drinks I have mentioned but still looks delicious and something I'd love to be enjoying on a beach right now!

5. Audrey & Betsy

Ingredients:

Starbucks Frappuccino

Whipped Cream Vodka

Preparation:

Add ingredients to shaker, shake for a few seconds and pour!

Two of my favorite things: coffee and vodka! Such an interesting drink with a stand-out name! Though I'm not a big fan of whipped cream vodka, this simplistic drink would be very easy to make on a budget and how doesn't like a little coffee in their vodka?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
