It's Hard To Make It Work When You're A Working College Student, But Most Don't Have A Choice

College is great and so is making money, but how do you make both fit into your schedule?

It's Hard To Make It Work When You're A Working College Student, But Most Don't Have A Choice

I work late nights. Most of my shifts are 8 hours or more. I also am in college so on days when I have work I literally go from class to work so it gives me little time to prepare my dinner, rest, get homework or studying done and any other errand I need to run. My days are usually pretty hectic but I have gotten better with time management the older and wiser I get. Saturdays and Sundays I am off work and school, but I do live a normal life of a 21 year old, and I want to do my own things. Whether that being social, personal, working out, cooking, going to football games, or going to bars. Basically anything that a normal senior in college would want to do on the weekends.

Now, this means I am busy on those days too and the last thing anyone wants to do on the weekends in homework. But I know some of us who work jobs and are full time students do not really have a choice. We either have to stay up all night after work to get an assignment done or we have to bust our butts on the weekends and give up our social lives. I usually choose the method of staying up until 4am to get an assignment done so I can live my normal life and enjoy my weekend stress free. This is possibly because of one simple thing: mind over matter.

I have gotten my mind to the point where I can dictate if I am tired or not. When I get home from work I am hyper, motivated, stimulated, and ready to get to work at school. It is wild, disturbing almost, that my body can do that. I know other people too who work late and can also do the same thing. If you are having trouble staying up, you have to have a meeting with yourself and check in with your mind. Telling your body that it is important that you stay up and get your assignment done. I know that staying up for these long hours is exhausting and not exactly the best thing for you but it is necessary if you have no other choice. If you are in school, and you are paying for it. It is important for you to hustle. Hustling is difficult and it is a mindset. Anyone can push their brains to this level we all have the capability to get things done when we need to.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
