The first week of the semester is always the hardest. You're not sure if you want to be happy or sad about starting school again. Either way, you know you have to get through it to be one step closer to being done.
Lucky for me, this is my last semester. I finally get to graduate in May! Even though I get to graduate, I still go through the same things you do during the first week back.
1. Finding where all of your classes are...in a hurry
Not all your classes are going to be in the same building. This semester, I have a class that's about 15 minutes away from my next class and I only have 15 minutes to get there. Oh yeah, in the cold. Yay.
2. Having a mini reunion with your friends and classmates
It's nice to see your friends again. Even the ones that you don't see outside of school but can talk to each other in your classes. It's complicated.
3. Doing those embarrassing introductions in front of the whole class
We get it! We've been doing this since we started school in Pre-K. A lot of us already know each other in the class or, to be honest, we don't really care.
4. Actually looking presentable for at least the first week of classes
They say first impressions are everything, right? Well, I guess I can sacrifice some time in the morning to get ready. Only for a week or two.
5. Reading over the syllabus and contemplating dropping out
Research projects, group projects, class presentations. Yeah, they make you want to drop out of the class ASAP.
6. Getting homework in every class on the first day
How can someone already give out homework on the first day?! There should be a rule saying you have to wait until the second class. Not cool!
7. Being exhausted from having to get up early and trying to stay awake throughout the day
I am NOT a morning person. I'm driving to school half-asleep and then sit in class, falling asleep. When I get home, I crash. Homework can wait an hour or two.
8. Having a mini panic attack after seeing all the work you're supposed to do
I think I legit made this face after coming home the first day. The second day was even worse.
9. Trying to figure out what you're going to do with your life after you graduate
You'd think that after 21 years I would have some idea of what I want to do. Nope! I guess I'll see where the road takes me.
10. Realizing this is your last semester and you're going to do amazing
You can't stop me now! Soon I'll be on my way and never have to come back to campus. Bye bye, suckers!
