Five tips for first time vegans

I recently decided to go vegan and I am already facing some bumps in the road. It's easy to want to change the way you view things and the way you eat but it's difficult to follow through. Going vegan is an extreme change to a lot of people including myself so here are some tips that'll help face certain challenges that occur during this change.

1. Keep an open mind

A bad attitude will guarantee failure. If you view veganism as a punishment or some sort of diet that will restrict you from enjoying your meals, that's exactly what it'll be. Keep a positive attitude and an open mind and you will succeed.

2. Plan your meals in advance

There will be a lot more cooking involved in changing your diet so make sure you're up to the task. Planning your meals in advance will help you get familiar with new ingredients and how to use them. You may even want to prep week long meals which drastically cuts down cooking time.

3. Restock your kitchen

Make sure you have the necessary ingredients to proceed. That means, no meat-based products and no animal byproducts.

4. Steer clear of constant fast food

Yes, some fast food places are selling vegan options these days, but don't develop a habit of constantly eating out because it's convenient. Just because it's vegan doesn't mean it's healthy.

5. Don't quit because of other people

You may feel as though you need to explain yourself to people. You may also feel like people are going to judge you when you tell them you're vegan. While both of those are probably true, make sure you're doing this for yourself and make sure you stay true to your beliefs. Explain to people why you've made your choice and they will most likely understand and support you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
