My First Roommate Experience

A little look as to what my college roommate experience was like.

When I was accepted to Mansfield, I was invited into the Mansfield Class of 2020 Facebook Page. There is a Facebook page for every graduating class, and on this page you can see the events that are going on, meet new people, and ask questions and help others out. An advantage to this, is that while you are meeting someone, you might be able to meet your future roommate. I was lucky enough to have met mine; however, I met my best friend too.

I met MaryKate in March and we clicked instantly. She asked me to be her roommate a few days after we talked and I said yes. 8 Months later, we are best friends and do everything together. I met MK, in person, for the first time the day she moved in, I moved in about 6 days earlier for cheerleading.

We sat on my floor and talked for hours about everything that has happened in our lives and just really got to know each other. She is one of my closest friends and I would never change it for the world.

Having a good roommate is one thing that I wish upon everyone as they enter their freshman year of college. It makes everything so much easier. Not only does it give you a close friend, it gives you somebody to go through college with. College is not easy, not really a surprise, but having a good support system can help so much.

MaryKate and I study together, clean together, workout together, do laundry together, and eat together, we do pretty much everything together and it makes the things we have to do a little bit easier. I don’t know what I would do without her. She also has come home with me and stayed at my house. It was a lot of fun and I loved be able to see her fit in with my family. I have also gone to her family’s cabin and stayed with her family and a few of our other close friends. It was so much fun and I loved being able to have that feeling of home for the weekend. It is also nice to find that friend that feels just like family. I have been lucky enough to have found a group of those friends that are family, but MK is like the sister I have never had. She supports me in everything I do and I support her just the same.

Finding a roommate that you get along with is so great, but finding a roommate that you click with and bond with is amazing. I love that I got so lucky when it came to the roommate department. I truly do not know what I would do without MK.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
