For the last 16 years, "Gilmore Girls" has made its way from weekly television shows to Netflix, allowing generations of viewers to enjoy and be apart of a 16-year-old and her single mother’s life. Rory and Lorelai, respectively, spend their days drinking coffee, surviving high school and running an inn. No matter what kind of boy or money troubles come their way, the mother daughter relationship that we watch between the “Gilmore Girls” has brought a fun bond between the daughters and mothers watching it together and has made some girls long for the bond between Lorelai and Rory.
Now, I’ll admit that I’m no expert. Obsessed? Yes. But I don’t know how the series ends or what happens in the middle, or what happens after episode 5. I started watching August 10, today is the 12. However, I got hooked after the first episode. So, here are some of the thoughts that traveled through my head while I watched the episode that started it all 16 years ago in 2000.
1. How do you get a mother daughter relationship like Rory and Lorelai’s?
You can't get more comfortable than that.
2. Rory’s conversation with the boy made me cringe for her.
One word: Y- I- K- E- S.
3. I guess everyone has crazy grandparents.
Hide from them if you can.
4. I’m not quite sure if I could ask my mother if she’s happy because she did something slutty?
I'm pretty sure I'd get grounded, no questions asked.
5. Hayrides with future doctors would be interesting.
"Hi, I'm in high school... Maybe I'll fix your heart one day."
6. I should start drinking coffee at all times of the day too.
There's no bad time for caffeine.
7. Lorelai better hem that skirt A LOT.
Dresses that reach calves are a no go.
8. Sookie will probably burn down the whole Inn.
Danger. Danger. Danger.
9. Michel has the same attitude as Mr. Moseby, from The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, did.
Or the same attitude as me, half of the time.
10. More boys should be attracted to girls who love to read.
Fun fact: We're pretty cool.
THINK like Rory. DRESS like Lorelai. COOK like Sookie. DRINK COFFEE like a Gilmore.
