First Day Of School Goals

The best and worst day ever.

It's the best and worst day of the year. The first day of school. Amongst all the many emotions that fill your tummy with butterflies on top of the nausea and anxious thoughts similar to being sentenced to prison, the average student ponders on certain goals that must be accomplished on day one. There's no doubt that you will do everything in your power to accomplish these goals, even if it means taking down the teacher's pet in the hallway or waking up an hour earlier than necessary.

It's all about first impressions, right? So, for this reason, the first day of class is the most important, other than the last day which leads you straight to freedom. But naturally, that's a given. The first day, on the other hand, brings up an importance that no one student can deny.

The first day is all about bright, shining faces, new clothes, new atmosphere and new, way too serious professors. It's so exciting yet so incredibly sad. Luckily, we students find ways of making our first days back as prisoners an opportunity to learn, experience new things and make new friends. Whether you're the type of student that lives for the first day back to school or the one who dreads it the most, day one is the most riveting.

On the first day of the school, the below goals must be met.

1. Your outfit must be a reflection of your best self.

Your favorite color top with the best fitting pair of pants, along with those boots that clearly make a statement.

2. Each item on the very intricate list of school supplies purchased prior to this exciting day must be in its rightful place.

I'm talking each pen and pencil lives in its own little pocket, your laptop in the very back, a binder for each subject, etc.

3. Snagging the best seat in the entire classroom.

Whether you are a front seater, the one who hides in the back, or the go-with-the-flow type that just grabs the one in the middle. It's all about placement, for sure.

4. Choosing the perfect fun fact about yourself in which you share with the rest of your peers.

I mean, you have to sound even cooler and more impressive than the girl sitting next to you.

5. Not getting lost or entering the wrong classroom.

We all know how embarrassing that is, so let's try to review the campus map before you end up in the wrong building two minutes before the class starts. If that does happen, at least wear good shoes.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
