People find peace in many different places. For me, I find peace in a beautiful sunset. I know that is a little stereotypical, but there is something relaxing about knowing this day is ending and tomorrow is a new day filled with endless possibilities. This week has been about finding peace. Finding peace is not the easiest thing to do. This was especially true this week because this week was filled with finals and my crazy job. Usually, when people try to find peace they try to do it by cutting stress out of their lives. However, there was no way for me to not take my finals or not do my job. So rather than push away all my responsibilities, I embraced them. I pushed myself this week to do my absolute best. I wanted not to just pass my finals but get A's on them. I wanted to do my best at my job so I made sure I was doing everything I was supposed to be doing and then also took on a little extra. It was crazy and hectic.
Something else you should know about me is I have been having problems with anxiety. It is not easy to deal with anxiety because the little voice in my brain is constantly telling me I am doing everything wrong. This week was stressful so of course I worried that this voice in my head would get stronger and that I would completely fall apart. In reality, something surprising happened, the voice inside my head got quieter. I did not hear it yelling at me constantly, in fact, sometimes the voice inside my head was actually giving me compliments and telling me I was doing a good job. This does not happen very often!
I am not exactly cured of my anxiety. I know the voice inside my head will come back, but I did learn something very important about myself. The better I am doing in the world, like with my job, and the busier I am, like with finals, the happier I am. I found a little bit of peace inside my head this week and it was amazing.
