Our world is unstable. The world today seems like it could honestly end at any moment. Sadly, there's hardly ever any good news in the news. I know that things in America are not as bad as some areas of the world, besides the fact that there is a chance at a Donald Trump presidency, it's just hard not to be upset at all the mass shootings and senseless killings across the entire country. Our generation has truly never known a world outside of violence, war, corrupt politicians, mass shootings and terrorism. It seems as though we do not truly know the world when it is at peace.
Millennials haven't really known a life with peace. We've lived through countless tragedies such as Columbine, 9/11, all of the recent mass shootings, and so much more. We are afraid of going outside into the real world because fear has been driven into our heads by our parents for years. We've found comfort in our technology and we've hidden behind our phone screens. Do we know what peace really is?
I can't help but wonder what the world would be like if our world was at peace. No more wars or terrorism in the Middle East. No more corrupt politicians promising laws and movements that they won't fulfill. How can we make our world better?
We can make our world better by learning to love each other. We need to stop the hate, and by hate, I mean all kinds of hate. Xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, homophobia, racism, and so much more. We can't keep hating people for who they love, or who they worship.
Millennials are amazing people, whether the older generations believe it or not. We need to do our part to begin the movement of love and acceptance, instead of hate and intolerance. This generation is wonderful, it's just the world that isn't.
Please, let's be the new movement. Let's work together and inspire each other to be better people. There's a better world ahead of us.
