A lot of people find their best friends in college; this has been true for me. But, I wouldn't encourage you to go looking for your best friend or try to force a friendship that just isn't there. One of my best friends came to me slowly over time. As I told another friend, it was like she snuck her way into my heart. But this friend isn't like any other friend I've ever had; she's my Kimmy Gibbler.
If you aren't familiar with the show Full House (the show I watched every day after school, long after I was way too old for it), one of the main characters , DJ Tanner, who is smart and funny, but pretty straight-laced, has a best friend named Kimmy Gibbler. Kimmy is basically a hot mess. She's loud, opinionated, sometimes gross, but always entertaining. The thing that is easy to forget about Kimmy, but is also what makes her amazing, is that she is completely dedicated to her best friend. She spends endless time supporting DJ and making sure that there is enough fun in DJ's type-A life.
My Kimmy, whose name is actually Sarah, does the same for me. She provides endless entertainment in the most mundane activities. For example, right now as I am typing this article and she is supposed to be studying for finals, Sarah is taking bites out of a softball sized wad of puppy chow that froze together (and is getting crumbs all over my desk while doing it). She's been known to play mariachi music when she gets the aux cord and request brisket for her birthday dinner. I can get kind of boring; I'm big on following the rules and doing things the normal way. But since the day Sarah came strolling into my dorm room and declared she wanted to marry a metrosexual man so that they could shop together, my life has been so much more fun.

While my Kimmy Gibbler is fun and slightly erratic, she is also the most loyal and dedicated friend I have ever had. She is always ready to send a motivational text or listen to any problem you have. I always leave Sarah feeling better than I did before I saw her. Sarah is someone who genuinely dedicates herself to those she loves, and really, could you ask for a better quality in a friend?
So, when looking for your forever friends, find yourself someone who sings the wrong words more often than the right ones, gives you only wrong facts when giving you a tour of her own hometown, and dresses up in the most hideous costumes with you for Halloween. Find yourself a Kimmy Gibbler, you will be so happy you did.
