Instagram is by far my favorite form of social media. It’s a great source to check out the latest activities your friends are doing for that day or the weekend prior, while also having a place to connect with people such as Kylie Jenner to keep up with her latest trends and relationship status with Tyga. No matter the day of the week, there are a certain list of things that you can always count on seeing pop up on your Instagram feed from your SDSU community.
1. Beach Pictures
An SDSU student’s Instagram must contain at least one beach picture. Everyone knows how amazing it is to live in San Diego, where you are close to the beach and can soak up some rays any day of the week. When making a trip to the beach, it is crucial to have a photoshoot of “candid” pictures of you running into the water, splashing, eating some ice cream -- the usual.
2. Frat Party Pictures
If you have a picture from a fraternity party that you attended over the weekend and it is “Insta-Worthy,” then you probably did everything wrong that night. I personally have never looked even somewhat presentable after five minutes of walking into a fraternity party, let alone take a picture in hopes that I will be able to Instagram it, but if you’re one of the lucky ones or freshman, you probably have a frat party picture on your page.
3. Pref Night Pictures
Anyone who is in Greek life will answer “Pref” to the question “What is your favorite event of the semester?” Pref night is one of the best nights of the year because you get to take party buses to a sick venue, dance the night away with your favorite Fraternity, and the open bar. It’s also everyone’s favorite night because instead of prancing around in a ridiculous costume like most do all nights out at State, you get to put on that tight dress and highest (probably most uncomfortable) heels you’ve been dying to wear. Everyone looks their best and there is a 100 percent chance you’ll get a hot picture to Instagram.
4. Hepner Hall Pictures
I’m not sure what it is about Hepner Hall, but it is honestly one of the most beautiful parts about the SDSU campus. With a little help of the right lighting, and a good angle, or positioning behind the rose bushes, most people have taken a picture of Hepner Hall in which resulted in them thinking they were a professional photographer. (P.S. It’s not your photography skills, it’s the fact that Hepner is so unbelievably beautiful.) Whether it was the first time you took a tour of State, or a morning walk to class when you snapped the picture of Hepner, everyone has a picture of it somewhere on their Instagram.
5. Coachella Pictures
SDSU’s student body loves festivals. The love is ironic given that the general public is suffering from being broke, but whether or not you go to one festival a year or 10, Coachella isn’t a festival that anyone chooses to miss. Coachella is a fashion contest with a little bit of background music, essentially. The amount of money girls spend on their outfits usually totals more than their actual ticket purchased. When you look that great, and have a really cool giant yellow ant in the background, it’s obvious one will take a million and one pictures that weekend. With that being said, expect to have your Instagram feed blowing up with artsy Coachella pictures for two weekends out of the year.
6. American Flag Pictures
Obviously we all love the U.S., but for some reason everyone feels the need to reiterate that every time we go to a day party. At every dayger at SDSU, you can assume there will be an American Flag that all the girls are lined up and yelling “Dibs!” to take a picture with. There’s something about an American Flag and a little beer that makes everyone super stoked. You’ll also be seeing a ton of pictures coming up on Instagram later that day.
