I would rather set myself on fire than study for finals.

Finals week. The worst week of the semester. A week of no sleep, complete stress, and a lot of caffeine. We basically live in the library during finals week; renting out rooms, bringing each other coffee, and staying there all night so no one steals the room away. In reality, most of us haven't done anything this semester besides watch Netflix, eat junk, and go out drinking.

Have I even had an exam this semester? How is this final cumulative?

We cruise through the entire semester, with very few worries in our lives, but once the end of the semester hits, its all down from there. It's easy to get caught up in all the fun in college, but we need to ace our finals if we want to pass the class, considering most of us have failed every test. The fear of college finals is quickly approaching, but we have to take it one step at a time. Start your studying early, and make sure you know when each exam is so that you can plan accordingly, but also don't forget to cram like every other college student does during this week of hell.

1. Studying starts out great.

You're motivated, you're alert, and you're ready to kick some finals butt. No matter what you might be studying for, starting out is always the easiest after a few cups of coffee.

2. You look at the study guide and realize you have no idea what you have been learning for the entire semester.

It looks like a bunch of different languages thrown together just to confuse you.

3. After five minutes of studying, you can't even sit still anymore.

So boring.

4. After reading the book all night trying to understand what it's talking about, your eyes literally start twitching.

It hurts.

5. After a week of studying, someone asks you if you want to do to the library to study and all of the emotions come pouring over you.

Does it look like I still want to study?

6. Why bother studying when you're going to fail anyway right?

Maybe I'll just study before the exam...

7. When you're taking a break from studying and then your friend tells you that you need to get back to reading the textbook.

You're not my mom.

8. You keep thinking you're going to do OK on the exam, but in reality, you know you're going to fail terribly.

There's still that little bit of hope in you that you'll get the C so you can pass the class.

9. It's now the day before the test and you haven't studied much at all.

Then someone tells you there is no way you're going to learn everything overnight. Nonbelievers.

10. They were right.

After studying all night before the test, all you want to do is lay in bed and cry about how horribly you're going to fail. It's OK though, because ice cream and tears will make everything better, even your grades.

11. The day of the test, you can't help but look like you have slept in a week, but it's the motivational mirror pep-talks that keep you going.

Don't worry too much, everyone else is probably failing their finals too.

12. Walking into the test and you feel a complete sense of discouragement and sadness.

So. Not. Ready.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
