Finals Week As Told By Our Inner Rap Queen

We all have a little bit of savage, rap god inside of us.

Finals Week As Told By Our Inner Rap Queen

Finals week is upon us once again. The longest week of our lives filled with very little sleep, large amounts of coffee, and an extraordinary amount of stress as we try to turn in last minute assignments, papers, and study for those God awful cumulative exams. Finals are going to be stressful, that’s a given. Hell week is upon us and sadly there is no escaping it.

So, we might as well take the bull by the horns. And why not take a page from our savage (sometimes ignorant) friends. Yes, all the feels of finals week as told by rap gods, hood-rats, and savage beasts.

My motto for this finals week: What would Kanye do.

“Got a lot of people tryna drain me of my energy” -Drake

Your professor gave you a paper, project, and a cumulative final all due finals week; the fact that this isn’t your only class must have totally slipped his mind, right?

You will get that occasional burst of motivation to actually study and get shit done, but that will last about as long your attention span to read this article.

“I can’t tell you what it really is, I can only tell you what it feels like” -Eminem

You’ve been studying at the lib for 12 plus hours and have lost all sense of what the outdoors and fresh air feels like.

“If God got us, then we gon’ be alright” -Kendrick Lamar

When you’ve had four Red Bulls and start to feel your heart palpitate inside your chest, @redbull please don’t give me angel wings.

The morning after you've been studying all night…

"Now th-that that don't kill me, can only make me stronger” -Kanye West

The aftermath of a bad exam.

"Rappers wear diamonds to compensate for a lack of fashion sense” -A$AP Rocky

At this point, fashion is a lost cause and you’ve been in the same sweatpants and hoodie since Sunday.

That annoying person that can’t help but brag about how prepared they are for the exam and how much they have their life together.

"If young metro don't trust you, imma shoot you" -Future

By mid-week, if you've made it that far, your patience for others is officially at a zero and it just took all your might to not slap the person who was being extremely obnoxious and rude behind you on the bus.

"I’ve seen a baby cry, seconds later he laughs. The beauty of life, pain never lasts” -J. Cole

Also at mid-week, you are officially exhausted and not really sure how or if you are going to make it through the rest of the week.

“1738” -Fetty Wap

You're nearing the end of finals and you've officially lost count of all the mental breakdowns and tears that have been shed.

You've also intently thought about changing your major or career path so that you no longer need to complete a four year degree.

By the last day you really have no idea what's going on or what life even is.

And although the end seems no where in sight, another week of finals will soon come to a close and you will be one semester closer to achieving your future goals.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
