Finals Week: According To Buddy The Elf

Even though Buddy the Elf had to save Christmas, being a college student during finals week is just as stressful. We all find ourselves relating to Buddy one way or another.

1. You don't know how it's possible to get everything done in a week.

If four tests, three papers and one presentation wasn't already enough, you also have to pack up all of your belongings to move home for the long break. Did I forget to mention your group members “forgot” about meeting up in the library so you're stuck doing a project all alone?

2. Studying for hours on end and feeling like you know less than before you started.

Don't worry, we all get to the point where we feel like we aren't retaining any information. Just remember it’s OK to take a break and rest your brain for a little bit. I promise you know more than you think you do!

3.The professor says he covered all of the content in class for the exam.

Let's be honest, looking through your (very) unorganized notebook with doodles of dogs and your crush's name surrounded by hearts makes it seem like your professor didn't even teach at all. Thank goodness that untouched $200 textbook can come in handy with five days left in the semester!

4. Getting hit by a car sounds like a better idea than studying for the rest of your exams.

I know it may sound tempting, but trust me, no one wants a broken leg right before the start of a stress free break.

5. Shoveling food in your mouth because you haven't eaten anything all day.

You barely have time for breathing, so how are you supposed to fit three meals into your schedule? I would suggest bringing snacks to the library. No one ever regrets having too much food.

6. Thanking the Starbucks barista for keeping you awake for the past 48 hours straight.

Yes, Samantha remembers your order of a venti caramel latte with two shots of espresso, because you've had 10 of them in the past three days. I’m not sure if you should be proud or just embarrassed.

7. Your classmates discuss the final you just took and realize you made a stupid mistake.

Do not panic! One little mistake won’t determine your whole grade. Take a breath and focus on the good instead of the bad; at least you have one less final to study for!

8. Trying to talk to your friends who are just as stressed as you are.

Try to be cautious around your friends during this time. Stress affects every person differently, so remember to keep your distance if someone needs a little space after a long week in the library.

9. Thinking the stress is too much for you and contemplating dropping out of school.

Sorry Mom and Dad, college isn't working out for me. Please have the pantry stocked because I'm never leaving home again.

10. When you're scared to check one of your exam scores.

One of the scariest things is looking at a final exam score, but no matter when you check it, the grade is going to be the same. Just remember that you tried your best and you can only move forward from this point.

11.When your professor says there is going to be a curve on the exam.

Nothing is better than getting some extra points on an exam, especially if it can change your grade drastically.

12. When you can't contain your excitement after you finish your last final.

One of the best feelings is having the weight of school and stress lifted off of your shoulders. Feeling carefree for the first time in months is exhilarating.

13. You can finally celebrate because the semester is officially over with.

Congratulations, you survived finals week! Time to enjoy a well-deserved break from school.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
