Finally Finding You

There are things that happen in this world that are rare, like meteor showers or winning the lottery. Often times we take others for granted, but finding a person you rather enjoy the company of for days on end is truly something special.

I never really believed in love or the idea that someone wanted to be with me forever. Past relationships had proved that I "wasn't worthy" of their affections or time. I was so accustomed to that and just dealt with it. People would come into my life and whisper sweet nothings into my ear to make me believe them but in the end, they always left. And I let them. I wasn't going to fight for their attention or affection. I had cried enough tears. I gave up on trying to find someone to keep around.

Then you came along.

You. You changed my life with your smile. You were so sweet and patient. You saw my broken pieces and pursued me anyway. You give me everything and don't hold back. You know how to make me laugh to the point my sides hurt. We can sit and talk for hours and never want to part. You make me want to stick around.

And that terrifies the hell out of me.

For the first time in a long time, you make me want to hold on. You make me excited for the future. We've had so many wonderful adventures and so many goofy memories. You look at me like I am something special. You see something in me that no one else has. I opened the floodgates to you, I've shown you the good, the bad, and the disturbingly ugly and, yet, you still remain. You see my imperfections as perfect. You make me so unbelievably happy.

I believe God placed you in my life for a very important reason and I am forever grateful. I also believe that we must have crossed paths before and God face-palmed because we weren't meeting. But from the first moment I met you I knew you were something special. Call me crazy but I knew. Our first date we spent three hours talking in the restaurant and we couldn't wait to see each other again.

You truly amaze me. I could go on for pages about you and what you do to me but I don't have that much room to write. It's the little things about you that make me adore you. From your goofy laugh to the face you make when you concentrate, the way you light up when your passionate to the silly faces we make together. I found someone I want to keep around for a long time.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
